WHERE
The Aeolian Islands are seven volcanic islands scattered in the blue of the Mediterranean sea. They are known as the 7 sisters and of all the sisters Filicudi is the most remote and wild along with Alicudi.

Filicudi is a rocky unspoilt island, peppered with whitewashed houses, prickly pears and flowering capers growing out of every crag. Life here has a rhythm of his own.
Our handpicked portfolio of villas in Filicudi is not available on the rental market. They are unique and different from each other as they reflect the style of the owner, but in one thing they are similar: they all have a breathtaking view and respect Filicudi in the architecture, in the attention to energy efficiency (resources here are limited). After all people who own a house in Filicudi love to have a view and love this island deeply.
HOW LONG
Whether it’s a week, two or a month (supreme privilege!) you’ll live the island, its rhythms, its habits, have your shopping brought by a quad bike, return home in the evening with a torch to illuminate the path (there is no public street lighting), buy freshly caught fish from the fisherman and cook it at home maybe with your home chef.
HOW TO GET THERE
To be remote Filicudi is remote indeed, and certainly this is one of the reasons why it is out of mass tourism. But it can be easy to reach. We’ll meet you at the airport and take you to the harbor where your captain will be waiting. Technically there is still 1hour and 30 minutes by your private motorboat to get to Filicudi, but as soon as you weigh anchor and head out to the sea the journey has begun.
If you want to shorten your journey and take in a bird’s eye view of the 7 Aeolian Islands opt for our helicopter transfer.
Once there, you’ll be met at the quaint port of Pecorini by our local guide and your guardian angel throughout your stay on the island. She’s a Sicilian lucky enough to call this Mediterranean paradise home.
In the afternoon take a scenic walk to the cape where people here meet for a frugal aperitif and watch the stunning sunset as the sun sets behind Alicudi. Bring a torch for your way back, Filicudi nights are lit up by the stars.
DAYS BY BOAT, SWIMMING, SNORKELING AND DIVING
The sea is by far the first attraction here and there are lovely rounded pebbles beaches. But the best way to reach grottos, coves, bays and almost private microbeaches is by boat.
We’ll arrange wonderful days by clear waters with the local fishermen, while on other days you will set sail on your captain’s motoryacht to some of the other Aeolian islands.
Guided by the marine biologists, who are on the island year round to monitor and protect the cetaceans and dolphins of the archipelago and provide first aid to the sea turtles, you will go snorkelling and boating at dawn to spot them.
TIPS FOR FAMILIES
Your kids will adore the sea turtles first aid centre where they can learn and experience the work of resident biologist.
Divers get ready for amazing dives. Your diving instructor will take you to vertical walls, grottos and caves where sea turtles, moreys and lobsters are little disturbed by the presence of divers.
Expert divers get ready for a terrific archaeological dive to an underwater museum made up by several shipwrecks occured in the centuries, 60 amphorae lying in the wreck dating from the 2nd century BC and a Greek anchor from the 5th century BC.
WALKING
Our on-site drivers will be on hand for any transfer on the island and don’t miss out the fun of hiring a scooter to get around as well.
But above all, you’ll discover the most beautiful places on the island by walking.
Your guide knows every single trail, easy or impervious, on this island and will take you on wonderful hikes. And, as you walk along the paths that climb up and connect scattered remote houses, you’ll stop and taste freshly picked capers and the pesto made by Signora Annuzza. Walking further you’ll get to meet an artist who is among the people on the islands who have come here by chance or perhaps on holiday and said “okay, I’ll stop here”.
AT NIGHT
Dreamers are welcome here. In the evening people go to the “Saloon” in the village of Pecorini for a beer before going to the restaurant and sometimes your guide’s friends organize dinners at their home restaurant on a magical terrace overlooking the sea.
And if your own terrace looks too inviting on some evenings, prepare your dinner at home or have a cook to do it for you. Stargazing is a major occupation here and indeed there is a telescope in almost every house.
Don’t spread the word too much and come to this remote corner of the world with us … Filicudi is beautiful just this way, never too crowded, bars and restaurants are frequented by regulars, and the few like-minded travelers are welcomed to the parties in private (and gorgeous) homes.
If luxury is simplicity, real sustainability, time and wild beauty for you, then you will love Filicudi.

About SLOW SICILIAN HOLIDAYS Way of Travel
What is life like in Modica? What would it feel like to live in Ortigia?
We’ve put together some special houses, a handful of local neighborhoods and authentic Sicilian towns to offer you a delightful holiday concept.
LIVE THE PLACE
We propose that you slow down. This time don’t run from one city to another, but stay and live the place.
STAY LONGER
Make the place your own creating your nest, staying in a house or apartment, possibly for a bit longer. Indeed, the longer you stay the more you’ll embrace the place. The ideal length of this journey would be a week or at least 5 nights.
OFF-SEASON
One more “rule”. In some places the time of the year is key to making your trip really local. It’s not a matter of where to avoid tourist crowds but of when.
YOUR SICILIAN NEST
For these Sicilian holidays we've handpicked some unique self catering homes. Most are in the hearth of the historic centre, some in the countryside but each of the them and each in its unique way reflecting the essence of this wonderful region.
SOUTHWORKING
